Looking for the Queen

If the Queen were a SpiceGirl, what would be her name? Stuffy Spice? Frumpy Spice? Dowdy Spice, perhaps? When a man stands at the foot of his castle, these are the thoughts that go through his head.

Britain, for me, was to be a land of enquiry, a land of endless soul-searching about the vitally important topics of today.

That, and a chance to smooch my gal and eat lots of greasy chips.

Hermitage Castle

I've heard that Hermitage Castle was the favourite castle of Sir Walter Scott. I think he must have been heavily into blocks as a child.

The castle was built by William Douglas, the first Earl of Douglas. Actually, it was started by some dorky English Guy. Old Billy Douglas didn't agree with the English Guy's architectural sensibilities so he killed him and finished building the castle himself.

The rightful and true heir to Hermitage Castle ponders life, the Queen and the Spice Girl phenomenom.

This site is a brief travelogue of when I went to England in the spring of 1998. I was heavily into image maps when I first put these page together. In a nod to basic usability I've added a link to a File List at the bottom right of all these pages to make things a bit simpler.
