The Lancaster Canal
I've always wanted to go on a canal-boat trip. Last night I talked to one of my co-worker's who told me all about it. He went on one once and it was the best holiday of his life. "The maximum speed you can go," he said, "is four miles per hour! You just amble along in your narrow, seventy foot boat and stop at all the pubs you come across and have a pint or six and you don't have to worry about running into anything because you're only going four miles per hour." He also told me that a muddy dog is a crucial element of such a trip. "You need the muddy dog," he explained, "so you can put it in your mate's bed."
