About this site
This site is mostly just an excuse not to email or phone people.
I'm an expat; born in Edmonton, Canada, now living in London, England. In the past I used to hear from old friends and relatives and they would complain, "Hey, how come you never email/phone/visit me?" I would have no response -- just a shrug and a guilty look.
Now, however, I can smugly point them at my blog. The onus is on them to keep up with my life. Now if I run into someone I went to school with, I expect them to know all about me. I have been transformed from the naggee to the nagger. "What do you mean by asking me what's new?" I now demand. "Haven't you read my blog?"
If you've never actually met me, and are reading this in the hopes of discovering a bit more about my background, this is my story....
I was born a male in 1964. My name is Chris Yanda. I spent 11 years of my adult life working for a treeplanting company in remote bush camps in Northern Canada. I now work in new media at the BBC and spend my life inside office buildings which are delightfully free of mud and biting insects. My wife teaches Contemporary Dance at the University of Wolverhampton.
Pretty much my only form of exercise these days is cycling to work so I have great legs and a sexy butt, but also a bit of a paunch. On the other hand, I now shave regularly and splurge on the occasional haircut. So, it's probably a tossup whether I'm prettier as a geek or a bushman.
On the other hand, this being the web, maybe I'm really a 19 year old former Miss Teen California who has a fetish for fat balding Star Trek fans.
Believe what you want to believe.
Other places you can find me on the web:
Flickr (my photos)
YouTube (my videos)
Facebook (I'm addicted, but you'll have to find me using your big brain)
MySpace (nothing much, but I'm there)
LastFM (what tunes I've been listening to)
